Leasing and on-site oxygen for more profitable, safer and more autonomous aquaculture.
In modern aquaculture, a stable, cost-effective and secure oxygen supply is essential to farm productivity.
Dissolved oxygen levels directly influence fish welfare, stocking density, growth, feed conversion and survival rates. However, traditional oxygenation methods may involve high costs, logistical dependence or limited capacity to respond to peak demand.
Producing oxygen instead of storing it
On-site generation marks an important shift from liquid oxygen, cylinders or conventional aeration: the fish farm no longer relies exclusively on an external supply and produces high-purity oxygen on demand at its own facilities.
Using PSA technology, the system continuously separates oxygen from the air and achieves concentrations of approximately 93%. The gas is then piped directly to the rearing tanks or oxygen cones.
Compared with traditional systems:
- Liquid oxygen requires regular deliveries, storage and logistical coordination, and is also subject to evaporation losses.
- Blowers and aerators use air, which contains approximately 21% oxygen, and may struggle to meet high demand in high-density systems.
On-site generation allows production to be adjusted to actual requirements, parameters such as purity, pressure and flow rate to be controlled, and exposure to supply interruptions to be reduced. It also reduces the need to store liquid oxygen or high-pressure cylinders.

The result is a more controllable oxygen source with a lower marginal cost, particularly at facilities with high consumption. This helps to:
- Maintain more stable dissolved oxygen levels.
- Increase stocking density under controlled conditions.
- Support growth and feed conversion.
- Reduce hypoxic stress and mortality risk.
- Improve autonomy and operational continuity.
- Reduce logistics and intermediary costs.
> On-site generation without upfront investment
Gurpea Green Tech offers a key differentiating advantage: the option to implement the plant through a leasing arrangement.
This means the project does not require the entire investment to be committed upfront. Its cost is spread across periodic payments that are incorporated into the cost of producing oxygen.
Even including the leasing payment, energy, operation and maintenance, on-site generation can reduce the cost of conventional liquid oxygen supply by between 25% and 50%, depending on consumption and the conditions at each farm.

In this example, the fish farm begins saving €7,000 per month from commissioning, while the payments help finance the installation.
Once the leasing period has ended and the purchase option has been exercised, the financing payment disappears and recurring savings increase.
This transformation goes beyond replacing a supplier: it converts a variable external supply into an in-house production capability that is more predictable, autonomous and cost-effective.

At the end of the leasing period, the financing payment disappears and savings increase. The final amount will depend on actual energy, operating and maintenance costs.
